Money has always played a big part in boxing and television rights to show some of the world’s biggest fights which have sold for incomprehensible sums.

The highest grossing boxing match in history saw the legendary Oscar De La Hoya take on, Floyd Mayweather Jr., commonly renowned as the best pound for pound fighter at the time. The fight took place at the MGM Grand Arena (part of one of the most prestigious hotels and best casinos in Vegas) on May 5, 2007. The fight sold out resulting in ticket sales grossing $19 million, which only scratches the surface of the money made from pay-per-view television and sponsorship deals.
