Narvaez Stops Soto, Scores Record 16th Flyweight Defense
Argentina’s Omar Narvaez (30-0-2, 19 KOs) notched a record 16th flyweight defense when he defended his WBO Flyweight strap against Mexico’s Omar Soto (17-5-1, 11 KOs) on Friday night via an eleventh round stoppage.
Defending his title at the Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Narvaez encountered few problems this particular evening. Throughout the bout Narvaez was too quick and slick for the much slower Soto. Narvaez put Soto away with a series of punches in the eleventh which sent Soto the canvas. Soto beat the count but the referee felt he had taken enough punishment and called a halt to the bout.
