Don Chargin, a San Jose native and one of the greatest matchmakers and promoters here in California, died today. I remember his cards locally and on TV. He promoted events in the Bay Area, Sacramento, and Southern California. I remember his name being attached to many a Mexican fighter including Pipino Cuevas, Duran, Mayweather Jr., Coloradito Lopez and even Chavez.

One of those names from my childhood that has left the earth...happening much more frequently these days.

He was a good promoter and his model is followed by many up and coming and established promoters.
